I would assume that if the lander doesn't survive the landing or something doesn't work right and no data can be collected that this prop will fail. Is that anyone else's take on it?

I'm a little confused. I've looked all over the place and can't find a single source that indicates a landing date other than May 25th, nor have I found anything to support concerns that the lander won't survive for the length of the mission. I know there are those of you out there who seem to make better sense of NASA's press releases, etc. than me. Anyone know of any reason not to go long?
And yes, scooby, I would assume that if the lander doesn't survive the landing or is otherwise unable to gather data the prop would fail. Is there reason to believe that the lander won't work to begin with?
That's what I think, if it doesn't survive the landing, it can't be in service for more than 90 days.
take a look at the climate section of the Wiki, related to the dust storms.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mars
If all goes according to plan, the Phoenix lander will touch down on Mars at the end of March for 90 days of work collecting and transmitting data. When NASA's last two rovers touched down, they were expected to put in only 90 days of work, but Spirit and Opportunity have lasted more than 1,400 days and continue to collect data and prove useful. The terrain Phoenix faces is much harsher than that of the other two, and NASA scientists don't expect it to last past its three months. But the endurance of Mars rovers has surprised scientists in the past. Will that trend continue?
This proposition will pay out at POP$100 if the Phoenix lander stays in service for more than 90 days from when it first touches down. [LONGLIFE]
I think so it is gonna fail.....
So what r u guys up to.....
Long Or Short........
If it survives the landing it will probably last longer than 90 days. A lot of NASA missions last longer than they are originally planned for.
It's showing the info for BADBEEF when I go onto LONGLIFE. Luckily the home page shows the real info.
This is just a poorly written stock, period. The Phoenix lander is expected to touch down at 4:36 pm Pacific Daylight time on May 25th, not late March.
The Phoenix is a lander, not a rover, so unless I'm mistaken the only time terrain should be an issue is when it lands. The question of longevity has to do with the climate in the area where it will operate.
I was able to find these mistakes just by reading popsci's own article about the lander. Do the people who write these IPO's even read their own magazine? That being said, I think that this is a safe long, assuming that the landing goes well.
I have to agree with the direction that, provided it lands safely, it will operate for >90 days. That said, I would have thought by now that NASA would have figured out the 10 fold benefits of having a rover vs. a lander and would have stopped spending a gazillion dollars to send a stationary object that far. Obviously that's a separate issue though.
I think the "March" in the IPO is a typo. Besides it says "...90 days after it touches down...) so I don't see why it would matter if it touches down in March or may.
Peace through kinetic solutions
yup. I think the spirit of the IPO is whether the lander would last 90 days.

landers do suck though there is no piont to them we need to send humans or andriods
That word is becoming overused, like "bozo." Please try to use another word. For example,
"landers are not pleasing to me though"
And try to use the shift key and put commas and periods into your posts.

good riddance
Well, now that that's all over, I think the lander will make the 90 days and then some. There is a possibility though that a dust storm could cover the solar panels with dust and cause a loss of power, thus ending it's mission before the 90 days. Does anyone know the weather patterns for the Northern hemisphere of Mars?
from Shelton, CT
The target landing area is supposed to have more dust than most.
But I think it's a short until they have a safe landing.
For whatever reason, missions to Mars have an abnormally high failure rate. Here's a link with information on past missions:
I don't know that much about past Mars missions, but I have to agree that until it's on the ground, short is probably the way to go. From what I understand, entry and landing is by far the trickiest part of the mission with regards to survivability. Full Disclosure: I'm holding long for now, because I think that the conditions of the prop will be met, but I'll go short in May until it touches down. If it does so safely I'll go long and, hopefully, ride this all the way to a $100 payout.
If you look at the usa today article on this, you realize that winter sets in in 90 days after touch down, and hence no more solar power. Soooo, if the lander stores enough energy to last beyond and work the 91st day this pays out. Tricky

pay it out
Major Marvelous, the stock says that it has to remain in service for more then 90 days. The short circuit is noncritical and the lander will continue to operate.
if you read the entire article it states "As soon as the short circuit will be fixed and a stable platform for the robotic arm to dig on will be found, the mission will advance into its next stage." Therefore progress is effectively halted till it is repaired, meaning that it is not performing the service for which it was intended.
If you would have read the NASA page they plan to keep measuring the weather with it for several monthes after the initial 90 days are done.
@Major Marvelous: Just because it's not performing the "service for which it was intended" doesn't mean it's out of service. As dbsquared pointed out, it is still collecting weather data. Therefore, it is still functioning, and if it is still functioning, the logical extension of that is that it isn't out of service.
After all, if NASA decided to just have it sit for a while, it wouldn't pay out short, and it wouldn't be out of service, even if it isn't "performing the service for which it was intended."
Yup. This only pays short if NASA starts telling us, O noes, we can't get it to respond! before 90 days.
Sounds like you long people don't understand, it is a short circuit halting the progress of the mission. @novotny: they aren't having it "sit for a while", this is not by choice, your analogy has no meaning. Rather than tear apart everything else you have said I choose to use this evidence to destroy your credibility as an expert in logic.
"in service" is not a concept that requires 100% perfection. If the lander can still do ANYTHING, and that includes sending back pictures, which it certainly still is doing, then considering it "in service" is correct. Furthermore, they are expecting to have a workaround for the short circuit.
The very name of the proposition, LONGLIFE pretty clearly implies that it would have to be dead for the prop to pay short.
Give it up.
For example : You have a nice car. You were using it all winter with the heat on and the blower was working fine until near to the end of the winter , The blower stops working. Does this mean you have to stop using the car? No, If it was me ,I would keep using the car( still in service) even though I would not get much heat out of the heater. (a minor inconvience) The car would still be serviceable without a blower. The only way the car would be dead is if the Motor does not turn over anymore or the transmission does not work. Only then the car is not in service(no longer driveable)
BTW everyone is forgeting the part that has the short has a duplicate that they said they can still do the same science with jsut the once element. So this mission was never in jeopardy.
that the only people that respond are in the top 100 on the leaderboards. I wonder if you loud people complain so much every time that PPX just bends their will to you in order to appease you. Or perhaps you are in control of it to begin with? I see how you can presume that service is an indication of any service whatsoever, and not fully functional service. So I suppose your argument is actually that the wording is not "Full Service", or for some of you "100 percent in service". Although, I believe I could argue that the wording is not "communication services are operational" or " at least 50% in service" I suppose that would be up to PPX though, and not all of you loud optimists.
wow, why is that when someone doesn't get their way or their argument is challenged, they get all defensive and throw around insults?
You can't argue that point about the wording because the wording of the prop says "stays in service."
It's still performing functions regardless of the short circuit that affected one part of it. If the batteries died or if it blew up, then it wouldn't be in service. The article was good though because now people will be watching this closer because something else may go wrong besides a short circuit
I agree with Major because he is obviously smarter than you guys. His logic is spot on and to dispute him is folly because he will will bury you with piles of knowledge. Also, he seems like a kind person with a golden personality.
Wow, the sarcasm just dripped off of that post, kcondon. Hilarious.
Major Marvelous (even if you really aren't): Perhaps if you read the rest of the forum, instead of spouting off about things which you apparently know nothing about, you'd see that the top 100 are not in control, and that PopSci actually isn't bending their will to appease us.
As for LONGLIFE: I'd have to say as far as the payout goes, the lander is either in service or it isn't. But you are correct, it's up to the PopSci admins, not obnoxious folks like you.
Only top 100 people respond...
I've been in the top 100 for 4.5 weeks, and I know I've been posting longer than that. Damn, can you imagine if all of Milkweeds posts had happened in the 3 days he's been in the top 100?? Holy Crap!
This is the 2nd player to complain about the number of forum posters in the top 100, then Kahomono had to drop that concept when he got into the top100. The logic isn't that people who post are in the top100 because they control the game, it that people in the top100 are the most active players.
Major Marvelous: Participate & learn, and soon, like Kahomono you'll be in the top 100 too. We all experienced PopSci not treating stocks the way we would if we were in charge.

@ed- that would be over 200 posts a day. I'd have to hire somebody like the Cpt. to help me with that.
@ejcassel: WHAT now you are accusing me of being an active trader just because I'm in the... hold please, SELL BUY SELL SHORT COVER BUY.... ...okay were where I... Oh yeah... I'm in the top 100!!! That is the most outrageous accusation I've ever heard!!!
btw I was posting long before I got in to the top 100... just checked the old forum and my first post was 07/09/2007 as a comment to the Transformers stock... hmm the good old times of being in the high 4 or low 5 digit standing... and my first original post iPod Touch announced! was not until 09/11/2007

The point wasn't that you were always in the top 100, it was that the people who post are in the top 100. The fact that you bring that up is a little silly. Unless you are one of the first 100 people, then you wouldn't be in the top 100 to begin with. If you are going to argue with me, please provide a meaningful response. I understand that the people who post are probably the more active people, but that does not mean that all those people have made the correct moves in trading. You should still get some levels of variance in the people who post. The fact that you started posting and then became in the top 100 indicates to me even more that the people who post have a great deal of influence in the actions of PPX. Also, I didn't know that "loud optimist" was an insult. I was simply describing the volume of the responses to my original post and the fact that you look to the brighter side of a short circuit. I myself am a loud pessimist, looking to see this particular stock drop by voicing my opinion. If a comment like that insults you, please stop posting and I will no longer describe you. If you find the allusion to your influence insulting, you may also stop posting and drop out of the top 100 and I will have evidence to indicate otherwise. Also, if either one of these comments were insulting, please investigate increasing your self-esteem, through medication or other methods. They are simply words on a computer screen by a person who you should have no knowledge of, the words should be inconsequential to you. If you find that an oppisition in opinion is insulting, and the debate therein because it may attack your credibility through a mistake you made in wording or reference, make sure that you understand what you are saying, and what the person you are responding to has said. Don't presume meaning that isn't there. To Kcondon: Thank you for your kind words, I hadn't realized I had made such an impression on you. Please do not place me on as high a pedestal though. Agruing against me is not in folly, my logic is not flawless, and Id on't believe I have displayed all that much knowledge on here as of yet. I do however have a sparkling personality, but all that glitters is not gold. To M_novotny: if you find me obnoxious you may simply stop reading my posts, although I think for you they may be particularly enlightening. While you may have taken a previous post personally, I urge you not to do so. I would want for you to take it as a learning experience so that your contributions in the future actually have relevance and meaning.
dude...
you ever heard of paragraphs? I got lost like 8 times trying to digest that ramble...
I think I need to go back to school... I still have no clue what you said.

Facts and deduced knowns: There was a short circuit in one portion of the landers functionality. Due to this short circuit, it was unable to perform some tasks, analyze samples of the soil. This malfunction is described as non-'critical'. The other units of the lander (comm, camera, onboard systems) seem to all have been functional while the one instrument experienced troubles.
My opinion (and a little caveat: I don't own this stock either way as 50% of my bucks are tied up in the Halted stocks right now.......... another 20% tied up in 3GPHONE):
While I don't think this is cause for a short (not critical), it does bring up a good issue: if some portion of the lander *which is required to perform the current task* is malfunctioning, in my books, that is "out of service". Let us then assume the problem can be solved, repaired or a workaround devised allowing the lander to perform said task. I believe this case would lead towards a short as the lander would be unable to perform a critical and important function required at the time. This prop is not concerned about its status as of 90 days later but its completely functional status for the complete 90 days. We now need to define 'critical' don't we....

PS. I think the topic of forum activity related to rank is an interesting one, care to start a new forum topic Major? (isn't that a bit ironic?)
I'm sorry, I thought posting on forums was an informal type of communication. Do you also request people refrain from using acronyms when instant messaging or texting? May I suggest using a ruler so that you may train your eyes to read one line, from left to right, and then proceed downward to the next line. That may allow you to... read.
theKovenant: Thank you for your input and acknowledgement. I believe I will start and new forum topic, may I suggest you participate as often as possible so that we may rise to the top!
@Major - Devolving posts into personal attacks have no place in these forums.
To quote you (out of context of course) ;)
"They are simply words on a computer screen by a person who you should have no knowledge of, the words should be inconsequential to you."
There is a great debate going here, let's keep the personal attacks to the politicians.
What is it with people who add military titles into their name? First, Capt Jack and now this Major guy. It must have to do with some sort of complex that compels them to be obnoxious.
FrostyFam: I agree, I just don't believe that I was the one to initiate the personal attacks. I was attacking ideas and responses that had no meaning or foundation. That was precisely the point of my post that you are quoting from, that it was not a personal attack and for someone to take it personally was a mistake on their behalf. I don't believe I have said anything yet that someone should take offense to, unless they have a particularly low self-esteem. I may respond with a degrading tone, but usually that is well deserved by the person on the receiving end. So far most the the posts on this thread are not infact part of a good debate, but either meaningless analogies or attacks on the way I write. It is difficult to debate a point when your opponents continue to ignore logic, presume meaning, and create distractions that avoid the main issue (much like our politicians). In order to return to the important discussion, I try to quickly point out these posts flaws and those that create them seem to take offense. Unfortunately for some I will not stop pointing out these flaws, and some people will continue to take personal offense. They do, of course, have that right. In my opinion, those people who wish to partake in a meaningful debate will ignore certain responses, in order to take the higher road. I, on the other hand, will participate in both the meaningful debate and the frivolous banter because I enjoy both. If someone decides to point out a flaw, and I feel that it is accurate, I will fully accept it and acknowledge it. However, if it is not accurate or has no relevance to the matter at hand, I cannot resist responding in order to display that fact to the poster. It is something that I enjoy and will continue to do. The resolution then, Frostyfam, would be for those who do not have anything meaningful to say to stay out of the conversation completely.
Also, (sorry to double post) I think it only fair to go ahead and admit to the Major that there is in fact a secret "top 100" club that controls all aspects of ppx. We have weekly potluck dinners with the Masons and Skull and Bones to discuss plans to take control of international banking.
@Billcosby: And those pudding commercials were not obnoxious at all. Or even Kids say the darndest things. After enduring you for so many years certainly you can take a few "obnoxious" posts from me.
@Billcosby: The main issue, in my opinion, is not that there may be a secret club. Even though I alluded to it it was mostly in jest. The main concern is that PPX may in fact read these forums and appease you, because you are the loudest. That was my main concern, and why I am now an active poster.
@ Major - Agree that you are not the only one, just the first one I responded to after my "Why the Hatred?" post. Also agree with that the frivously banter is enjoyable, however it degrades to 1st grade "you are a plooplehead", no "you are a plooplehead", etc, etc, etc... that is annoying.
Last thing, to say something meaningful (I hope), is that I agree with "theKovenant" and what is the definition that the admins are going to use. The only way to get that info is to post in the Tech Support section and address to admins. That is the only one that the admins read consistancy (I am relying on memory for that one so if I am wrong, please correct me)

so, where exactly did I attack you in that post?
ejcassel
You did not attack me, what you said had no bearing on the conversation. It had nothing to do with the timeframe someone has been in the top 100. Could you please quote the section you felt was an attack on you? I cannot find it in my post. I believe I just said that your post had no relevance to the conversation. Sometimes I respond to more than one person in a post without declaring who it is, but if you read the entire thread you should be able to discern who it is. I did not take your post as an attack, I just thought it was pointless. I do, however, appreciate the wonderful recommendation to participate and learn, and your confidence in my ability to get into the top 100. It helps to have support, and when I get in the top 100 I will certainly thank you in my acceptance speech for your wonderful advice. You are the wind beneath my wings.
your response, although not one of your more scathing or sarcastic attacks (in fact not as sarcastic as the response you just made), you did call me silly, then suggested I stop posting to prove I had no influence, and finally suggested I "investigate increasing my self-esteem, through medication or other methods".
If this is indeed your concept of polite conversation or intelligent debate, then we clearly can not agree.

@frosty: thanks for the vote of confidence. good luck though on getting clarification. There are a number of props I want clarification on with threads already up.
You have a Marvelous amount of time on your hands, m_novotny. I find your post interesting, but also not worth any level of serious consideration. I find it difficult deciding what point I want to make, so if you find my initial point meaningless, I don't mind continuing to discuss this.
Say you and I start at the same place and have the same goal of reaching a specific destination. You and I could take completely different paths and yet, in the end, reach the same destination. We could even take it by different means: you by car or bike, I could take a train or plane. If we both arrive at some point, and I said "you didn't arrive here the same way" does that somehow invalidate the fact that you are here? If you don't understand how this relates to your statement, let me know and I will be glad to give more examples.
I can't resist but make one additional point:
I should have been more accurate but I wasn't able to until you provided me with this wonderful data, again because I did not have the time. 17 of the top 25 people are the people who post. The rest of the list is largely made up of people who do not post. Thats 68% of the people who are in the top 25 are the people who post. Only 14 of the next 75 post. many of which are in the top 50. I'd like to continue to break down this data, but I don't seem to have the time.
Now, barring the fact that some of those other accounts are duplicates of the same person, or even a friend of a poster, they could just read the forums being aware of your influence. Perhaps they just share the same opinions as you. On and on it goes.
P.S. Is the spacing better?
P.P.S Ejcassel, know that most of those comments were not intended for you. Silly was to describe the action of putting your possible up without realizing its insignificance. It was meant to educate you not insult you. When I transition to the "loud optimist" comment, I was speaking to the person who thought I was throwing insults around and not you.
Now I ask you, what percentage of those that post are not in the top 100 (or the top 25 if that is what you changed your hypothesis to) ?
This time, you have to get your own data.
Sorry, I don't feel the need to prove that you are in fact influencing PPX. I am simply satisfied to speculate. I am not trying to stage an uprising or anything as passionate as that. I just thought it might be a possibility, with the data that I have observed, that you had some level of influence. I may be way off base. If there was data to indicate otherwise I would weigh it accordingly. If you would like to gather the data in order to prove me wrong, be my guest. I am certainly interested in any factual data that you may have access to in a detailed, accurate, easily readable format. Thanks in advance for your participation!

As a top 100 player, I'm extending this offer to you (non-top-100 player) in good faith.
How would you like to control an admin for a day?
that'll be just POP$45,000 (plus $5,000 for every halted prop), payable to my account. Take it or leave it.
Bah. Bah to you, I say.
"bah?"
Surely Novey is just mad because I beat his price.
And he doesn't advertise his rent-an-admin service on the forums. Nobody else does. Is there a reason for that?
I'd be more likely not to give you "any level of serious consideration" than novey here, “Marvelous”.
1. Don’t view this as full-on hatred (as frostyfam so excellently deemed recent remarks on the forums). I talk this way to many people, even good friends at school. That doesn't necessarily put you in the same boat yet. Respect is earned over time.
2. Novey (yes, milkweed, I think I’ll be using that) is a dependable poster and makes good points most of the time. He was just showing you that you may have missed something in your reasoning. Plus, if you think novey’s post shows that he has too much time on his hands, guess what most of us think about your lengthy posts.

You must be very empathetic scojac, to defend someone from someone else is a noble cause. However, I think you missed the point. I have simply stated some observations I made, and some possible causes for those results. I have not declared what possibility I leaned towards most, but I have stated one of the reasons you all might be in the top 100 is simply because your voice is heard.
The fact that everyone seemed to jump on the defense when I brought up the possibility of there being some type of collusion between the posters and the admins is amusing to me, as there would be no true benefit of doing this. Unless you enjoy being the banker in monopoly and sneaking yourself extra dough when ever possible, with the ultimate goal of bragging rights.
And to your last comment, I suppose you need to take into account how fast I can gather my thoughts and how fast I can type. This varies, but the average I would estimate is 3-4 hours for every post with more than one period in it. It would have taken me 48 hours to gather the data that was gathered. So I base this on my personally ability. Maybe M-Novotny is simply faster than I am, but I find that hard to believe. None of the other monkeys I work with are able to keep up.
Do the other monkeys have names like "private wonnerful" and "General nusiance" and "cpt. jack" and "wheremachtstratenfuherer Heinstatz" as well?
no, but some of my closest friends are "OOO OOO AAA AAA", "AAA HEE HOO HOO" and "Richard Head", although I believe you should change your name to the last one. That way you can be just another Richard in and world full of Richards.
Look, if you want to call me a penis in a sea of penises, you insult the PPX community (the official one). That'll make us mad.
If you aren't calling me that, then I'm just a dirty-minded teenager.
from Clovis, NM
heheheh I remember being a dirty minded teenager... Now I have a cane with a mirror on the bottom.
I think I may have insulted the world. Or maybe just the women. Regardless, I often change my name to Richard, and when I do, somehow, people seem to know and instinctively call me by name. I would appreciate it if in the future you could avoid being redundant. There was no need to place that particular adjective before teenager.
It took me about 10 minutes to think about the post you mentioned, Unmarvellous, and about five minutes to type it. As for the list, add maybe another five minutes, because I have learned a secret that maybe you, since you work with monkeys, may not be familiar with: Copy and Paste. Most of the time I spent on that list was formatting it, the only thing I typed was the period after each number.
How about you explained yourself. That was uncalled for. Never explain yourself to someone else. Really though... who I am to hold you accountable for anything? Yet, for some reason, you have to justify yourself. Believe in yourself, don't let what other people say get to you. They are just jealous.

The forum topic "longlife" will outlive the actual prop LONGLIFE.
This Prop will pay out at POP$100 if the forum topic "longlife" has continuous posting (no more than 2 days between posts from two different users) until after the prop LONGLIFE has halted.

this will pay out at $110 if Major Marvelous is found to be the same person as kahomono, as determined by an independant research firm.
Frosty, I'd like 500 long on your prop.
Quite possible, but be cautious...
Peace through kinetic solutions
Who is Kahomono and where are some examples of that persons writings? I would like to see the similarities...
look around for his writing... it's kind of hard to find becasue he tries to destroy evidence. You are both kind of controversial people, but other than that there's not much in common. The reason I put my prop up there is that he quit about the same time you showed up.
Here is a link to Kahomono's writing (comment replies to posts) that still is around (latest and final post is on the top of the first page, and the first post is at the bottom of the last page)

Thanks centrigma. And thank you for the compliment of controversial, MilkweedBinary.
Oh! He did participate in this discussion. Clearly stated his disagreement and why. Then proceeded to tell me to "give it up". I think I like this poster, especially the monty python quote. That stuff never gets old.
you're the only one!
Also, my number is 6 in binary, but as I was only 9 when i first used this handle, binary wasn't on my mind.
The other lander expected to do the same thing failed. Now this lander has a poor budget and is being built with inferior parts and outdated thrusters. But, then again NASA does a good job and they fixed the problems that doomed the last lander which crashed on the surface do to a bad radar.
Perhaps you meant "due" to a bad radar.
(Honestly, I don't care so much about that, I just got tired of the Military/Space forum line on the main forum screen calling me a "capitalist pig" so I thought I'd make a post. I'm more of a fascist anyway.)
Isn't capitalist pig an oxi-moron like government organization, military intelligence and Microsoft Works?
from Ottawa, Ontario
Heh Heh, Microsoft Works. Love that one every time.
-NapkinG
TigerNebula, how is capitalist pig an oxymoron?
Capitalist:
1. a person who has capital, esp. extensive capital, invested in business enterprises.
2. an advocate of capitalism.
3. a very wealthy person.
Pig:
1. a young swine of either sex, esp. a domestic hog, Sus scrofa, weighing less than 120 lb. (220 kg.)
2. any wild or domestic swine.
3. the flesh of swine; pork.
4. a person of piglike character, behavior, or habits, as one who is gluttonous, very fat, greedy, selfish, or filthy.
5. Slang. a slatternly, sluttish woman.
6. Disparaging. a police officer.
7. Machinery. any tool or device, as a long-handled brush or scraper, used to clear the interior of a pipe or duct.
Oxymoron:
a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness” or “to make haste slowly.”
The rest of your references are humorous and can be interpreted through that humor as oxymoronic. I am having trouble seeing your viewpoint on how Capitolist Pig is oxymoronic. Could you please explain so that I may enjoy the humor here? I do love to laugh, but I feel this joke may be over my head.
Thanks in advance, I can't wait to laugh again!
It's funny because it doesn't make any sense.
Are we talking 90 earth days or Mars days (Sols) Anyone know?
It just seems to me that a true Capitalist wouldn't be a pig. That's a job they would outsource to someone else.
90 days is way up on earth where is my money?
90 days from the landing which was may 25th, wait till August 23rd unless it dies before then.
It's going to break, you should bet short.
Market manipulation isn't allowed, and can result in sanctions against your account.
What defines market manipulation? Statements of opinions and advice? If that were the case then the real stock market would not exist. Please remove your cerebellum from your anal cavity. Market manipulation would consist of creating multiple accounts and using said money to artificially inflate or deflate the market. If you expect to go through life making statements like that in order to scare people away you will be happy only if you surround yourself with people who are dumber than you are. Good luck finding them! In the future, it would be wise to pick battles you can win, unless you are willing to face the consequences.

PPX defines market manipulation here: http://ppx.popsci.com/help/index.php
While you are correct when you say "Market manipulation would consist of creating multiple accounts and using said money to artificially inflate or deflate the market" that isn't the complete definition of market manipulation. "Misrepresentation of information to the PPX community" is the phrase I was looking at when you posted about how the lander will break. If that's just your opinion, it should be phrased as such.
I find it amusing you made an entire character judgment on me from a one sentence post. Also, since this is the internet, what kind of consequences could you possibly have in mind that I would care about?
Perhaps you should remove your own cerebellum from your own anal cavity before you make assumptions about where others keep their own.
In life you need to be able to discern opinion from fact. It's an important ability. If you would like me to label all of my posts with "In my opinion" or "IMO" you are going to be sorely disappointed.
As I have stated before, it is not my responsibility to prove my opinion right or wrong. If I wanted it to be seen as a fact then I would have to back it up with references, perhaps including a bibliography at the end of the post so that you could check on them. I could even establish myself as an expert on the matter by presenting my experience on the issue at hand. If I did these things falsely, THAT would be misrepresentation.
I am not surprised you find my post amusing. You are misrepresenting information by implying either that I have read only one of your posts or that you have only posted once. Either way, your head must truly be in a very dark place for you to think of my post as an "entire character judgement".
In fact, I have read several of your posts. This last one I find to be truly representative of your intelligence. Your need for me to label "it's going to break" as an opinion implies that you believe I have some sort of sight into the future. That is the only thing that could vindicate my post as fact (I was not aware you believed I had a power of this magnitude). You are in more trouble than I thought.
Unfortunately you are going to be very susceptible to advertisements unless you learn to discern opinion, fact, and truth. In reality, opinions are not the dangerous words, but well presented facts. Take cell phone companies for example: one has the most reliable network, another has the least amount of dropped calls, and yet another has more service coverage than any other. They all sound as if they are describing the same thing don't they? Yet all of them are well supported by fact. It is up to you to find out what the truth is.
In all honesty, when I posted last night I had imbibed quite a bit, and thats why I was so derogatory. I apologize for being so forthcoming of my opinion of you, usually I try and filter those things out of my posts. I think the authority you misrepresented, or the unwarrented threat you declared, rubbed me the wrong way. Another life lesson: you can't always run to mommy when you don't like what someone says or does.
Finally, the consequences I refer to was the public view of your character being either vindicated or defamed.
Looking forward to another poorly thought out response,

Unforunately for you Major Marvelous, m_novotny character in these forums is solid while yours is less than stellar. If polls were allowed in these forums like in the old forums, I feel that choosing between you and m_novotny over whose character (or reputation) is better, m_novotny would trounce you. Of course this is my opinion backed with zero facts.
In the spirit of the original purpose of this thread, in my opinion, this will be payout long unless a metorite directely hits it between now and Aug 23rd.

Why is it unfortunate? It is only to be expected that m_novotny, who posts more than I do and has been around longer to have a better reputation. To add to his advantage, the public is typically against intelligence. Too often it is about comfort or history. If you would like examples refer to just about any history book.
Luckily I don't particularly care whether or not I am well liked on these forums. You can probably see that in my posts, which can be harsh. I believe, however, that those with the potential to be intelligent should be challenged. It would be a crime to simply allow someone to continue to make moronic or pointless statements without ever being corrected.
I encourage anyone to correct me, because that is how we grow. Better to grow here in an inconsequential forum than to make mistakes when it really matters.
The publics current opinion was not really discussed. My opinion and the potential sway of the public opinion was. I do not expect people to stop liking m_novotny from these recent posts. The expectation would be that people wiegh what we have said and attribute a certain level of correctness to one. This is how you develop a reputation, for better or worse.
I am sure a clever person like yourself could find a way to start a poll if you really wanted.
For a bible quoting person, you should probably display the ethics in the quote: Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
Unless you don't know what it means. Perhaps you prefer to preach than to act. Maybe you should try Leviticus 5:1. I think is suits you more.
Hey it is past 90 days why is this still an active prop?
