So, some of you might recognize my name, some might not, but I'm back for now. I've obviously been out a bit too long, so trading ain't happening for me, but fond memories of lighthearted banter brought me back.
I might have to dig and see if any of my favorite, by now antiquated, threads are still in existence.

I am new to the forums
Yes, your favorite threads still exist, in the forum archives. Look around, there's a thread that has a link to it, and several threads dabuttminster posted a link to it also.
Other than that, I'm sure you can see the evidence of the "upgrade" that was promised and now has arrived. We've lost a few of the regular posters from your time, but gained a few also.
One big discovery since you've been gone: This entire website is ran by just three people.
Also, there are a couple of new websites for the PPX community since you've been gone. One is www.ppxchat.com, and that is the home of erick99's chatroom. The other was started by scojac, it is ppxcomm.ning.com.
By the way, welcome back, cailensniker.

I'm definitely sticking to the archive boards...these newfangled forums are too much for my anitquated ways.
Cailensniker, wondered what ever happened to you, welcome back. For those not aware Calien was the first and only player moderator, and did a hell of a good job at it as well. You and Yog sort of fell of the boards at the same time I figured aliens captured you, figured they would bring you back.
What does player moderator mean?
As a moderator, he was able to close and delete a thread (don't think he ever totally deleted a thread however), he was also able to merge threads that were discussing the same thing. He also would remind people to play nicely with each other, but also had some authority to back up his requests.

Oh and he was a regular player (in fact a high schooler, a very bright High schooler) but not an employee of Pop Sci.
There's an added benefit to being on the archives now. He still has mod powers (Finally we can discuss and be cleaned up after).

anyone know how he managed to become a moderator? nifty
Yeah he posted a lot, besides mvail and myself (I think I was the third person to go over 1000 posts) (M_novotny was also a big poster) Cailen was one of the highest posters (over 2000 by the time he stopped playing). He showed a lot of common sense, and was always giving pointers on board etiquette, and he also was very good about answering questions, and/ or directing people to threads and posts with the requested info. Anyhow the community of posters kept requesting a moderator for various reasons, and his name was at the top of most people's lists, when one of the Admins asked him to become a moderator. There was talk of having more player mods, but that sort of fell through, not sure if they just didn't ask anyone else, or if who ever they asked turned it down.
Yeah, I was a big poster, but most of what I posted was either inflammatory or crap. I'm more quiet these days.

actually, my profile thingy keeps track of every post i've ever written and at 10 posts per page i think i'm over 100 posts in 3 wks. not as huge as milkweed, but that's pretty crazy spamming...... i've spammed one other forum and they kinda kicked me off cause i wrote every other post for every single topic :-) it wasnt really that hard cause nobody talked tho, heh

Both of you (milkweed and cpt) need to calm down. Cpt, if you want to post a lot, post in the 3 word story thread. That should keep you busy. People just don't like seeing 20 updated threads from you with no real information. It's not a game to get the most posts ever. Research some stocks and then post information about those, people will like that a lot more. Also, the admins aren't going to respond to your problems simply because you're posting on every thread.

Wow. I leave for 2 days and this crap happens. Cpt, spamming solves nothing and irritates everyone. Both Rabbit and John Mahoney both have said that even if they don't respond, someone is reading everything. Also, I agree with the others, I'm getting pretty tired of coming back and seeing 20 updated threads with your name on them, and no new information.
However, I don't think you actually care about your problems. I think you are an attention whore. You like it when people are reading and responding to your spam.

Cpt, your attitude, behavior, and disregard simply show immaturity. Show respect for the forum users; many of us have been on the forums much longer than you have. Your spamming is basically continuous interruption of a conversation. When people do that outside of forums, they usually get left behind and ignored. So keep it up and see what happens.

No problem C_S_S may not have always agreed with you (although usually we were on the same page) but did always manage to have respect for you.
It was nice to see C_S_S come back.. I was posting herefor a bit last year but all of the dribble (see cpt.'s comments) was too much. I just stuck my head in for a sec today & saw C_S_S posting and had to read... but things still are the same here so I'll be gone. :) Chow
