I'm really upset about the fact that car companies haven't made any real advancements in gas engines until recently. The Model A's & T's got 25 to 39 miles a gallon and that was nearly a hundred years ago. Tesla has made an awsome car that has great potential because its fully electric (3.5 hours to charge, 220 miles/charge, 0-60 in 3.9 sec.) but its too expensive still. I want to know what other people think about this and see if its just me or there is something up with the car industry.

Calm down, what goes down will come up, price wise at least.
And for the Model A. Einstein, where in the world did you come up with those mileage numbers? I've drove both and while fun they are not in the least bit efficient. One of my employees has a "A" it is totally restored show ready (and winning) car and that is including the engine. When I told him your mileage numbers he laughed for a bit then said he only wished. If he gets 15mpg it's a good day and 10 is more like a norm. He lives 10 miles out of town and drives in for parades and such so he knows from experience. He got the car from his granddad who bought it new so this is not a short term deal. Those cars are heavy with low powered engines and transmissions geared for power not efficient travel. Not to mention that they are about as aerodynamic as a brick.
The US car manufacturers have built higher mileage vehicles. They just could not sell them, mainly because they seem to think good mileage has to be wrapped in an ugly package and preform like a snail.
Of course there is only so much energy in a gallon of gas and people can only afford to spend so much on a car. That puts limits one what can be done.
