This may be depressing for some but tracking the latest events, it seems that the dec.12 2012 doomsday may be real. The New Madrid fault underneath Missouri unleashed more earthquake power than California has ever seen back in 1811-1812. Some 2000 aftershocks took up to 500 lives (this heartland area was scarcely populated at this time) over the course of an entire year. 8 plus on the richter scale are the current estimations. Almost exactly 200 years after the original (and it's very active, providing 1000;s of tremors every year) the possibility of a disastrous sequel is very real. Memphis and St. Louis are in direst paths. Tremors will be felt as far away as Wisconsin and Virginia. Fifteen million people will be affected this time with at least ten thousand expected to perish almost immediately. This isn't the most disturbing part......... As all our enemies are poising themselves to take over, this may be their perfect opportunity. North Koreas' nuclear technology, Chinas' economic prowess, the middle easts' monopoly on crude------------the list goes on. It may not be doomsday for the planet, but it may be for the United States power over the planet. May we all survive.

This is funny, another lame thread about how it sucks to be in the US.

Listen, the 12/12/2012 is doomsday according to either the Mayan, Aztec, or Incan calendar (I can't remember which and I'm not about to look it up). These civilizations lived either in South America or Central America, which further south than even Mexico. Why would an ancient civilization predict a doomsday not for themselves?

Also, proof of this "doomsday quake" is required. Post a link to a reputable website that's predicting it.

Its the Mayan calendar

We talked about it in AP World. Kinda scary

Oh, I forgot to mention. The fact that the Mayans all disappeared mysteriously could have something to do with the fact that they predicted a doomsday for someone not themselves. (The Mayans themselves lived in Central America. The Incas were in South America.) They had serious polytheistic issues:they thought they had escaped from the underworld so however may persons they went up in population every few months thats how many they would sacrifice, as well as putting pyramids on ALL caves, as they were seen as portals to the underworld.

Just thought I'd add some stuff

This totally reminds me about what Violent j and shaggy are talking about when they bring up the dark carnival. Scary stuff man....

if the mayan calender is ending in 2012 and the world is coming to a end what happened last time it ended.

New Proposition: 2012DIE

Will pay out at $100 each if all human life on earth has vanished by 12/13/2012.

who tells the earthquackes when to go off? Does the Madras fualt know that 12/12/2012 is the day? How did the Mayans communicate this info to the Madras faualt so it can release its energy precisely on this day? Hmnn. Oh say, there's a bridge in Brooklyn selling very cheap these days.

The end of the world has been predicted numerous times. What the hell happened to the world ending on 06/06/06? So what makes 12/12/2012 the day? Anybody can have a shot at guessing the day the world is going to end, but of the many civilizations, cult leaders, etc. predicting doomsday, not
one has been correct.
