I can log into PPX, but when I click on portfolio is gives me a forbidden access screen.

Im also having another issue besides this. When newton paid out i had 16000 dollar gain that day and my portfolio went from 625,000 to 644,000, but i had NEWTN shorted at 33.25. What gives? ANd yes i cant access the portfolio
I also cannot access my portfolio. I could earlier this afternoon but when I tried to refresh it I got the "access denied" note.
I like the new look and feel for everything except the forums. And it looks like we lost the forum history. It's silly but I was enjoying the "three word story" thread.
For what's it's worth, logging out, then logging back in solved my access denied problem. Give that a try.
I have tried logging out and back in and deleting all of my PopSci and PPX cookies but it did not work. I think that you simply cannot access your portfolio until your record is brought over. I hope that happens soon :(

Maybe they went in the reverse order of each person's standing. So they started with number 20,000 something and are working their way up to #1 in worth.

Sorry you're having issue with login and portfolios. Here's a status update:
Currently, all user accounts and portfolios have been ported over to the new system. The majority of accounts seem to be working fine, but we're actively looking into why some folks are having problems logging in and seeing their portfolios as I write this message now. We'll get a fix implemented as soon as possible.
If those who are having trouble could leave as much detailed information on exactly what's going wrong, including the order of the pages you accessed to log in, we'll pass that information along to our developers.
Again, our apologies to those who are having difficulties. We'll get them squared away.

One thing that seems to be making the problem more serious is if you're inactive on a page for a while, you're still logged in but locked out from pages/activities you would need to be logged in for.
This is why logging out and logging back in works for some people.
I don't see a need for the ppx system to ever decide you've been away too long and need to log back in, but if there is one, perhaps instead of telling us "Access denied" it could send us to the log in page instead of to an error message.
I logged out and deleted all my cookies
Logged back in and still get:
Access denied
You are not authorized to access this page.
So no joy here in Rochester
Here's what I do - log out of the MAIN page. Not the PPX page. Go to popsci.com and see if you are logged in - you can do that by looking at the top right hand side of the page.
If you are, then select "Sign Out".
Then, from the main page still, sign in with your PPX credentials.
Once you go to the PPX section, your logon should persist and you will be able to make trades.
If you ever get the 'access denied' error, repeat the above. That's what works for me anyway.
Ooops, I meant the top-left side....
i'll second what narc suggested. it seems that the session on PPX is being destroyed much more quickly than the session on the main PopSci site. the only way to get back into PPX is to login again via the main site, but the login page won't let you do that until you've logged out of the main site as well.
why is my portfolio locked out on me even though my user name shows I've been logged on?
I have tried several times and I still can not get access to the PPX itself just to the forums , I had lost my original password to the forums and it denied me access the normal way ,so I had to sign in to the PPX itself to get access to the forums and now this time it works exactly the opposite.
I can not get access to the PPX but I can get to the forums. And on all other pages i went to like leaderboards ,stock security page, it shows me not signed in and i tried to access the portfilio page it said Denied Access.
It seems to me you had reversed the sign in for the PPX access password and the forums access password, I have tried others method of getting access and so far No Luck
Here's my story: I log in to the main POPSCI page. Then I click on the PPX link. After it loads the PPX main page, it doesn't show me as logged in. When I click on the portfolio link, it shows me as logged in but gives me the "access denied" screen.

Ok, earlier I got to my portfolio, then I couldn't, I logged out and in and got back to the portfolio easily. Now once more I can't. What seems the be the difference is now when I log in I am taken to my profile edit page automatically. It was after I visited that page that I had problems earlier today. I was able to access my portfolio UNTIL I went to edit my profile and then was denied access.

I believe, as mentioned above (How do I quote a previous post?) that inactivity may be the problem.
And the period of time seems to be relatively short. Sometimes logging off then back on fixes it but hit refresh and ... access denied.
Nope, tried logging out yadda yadda but no joy, still getting access denied.

Strange Kubie, the exact same thing just happened to me. I am accessing this from a different computer today, and when I logged in it took me straight to my profile.
Now no amount of logging in/out seems to be making a difference - I still can't see anything.

I had no problems whatsoever except on the 22nd of January. I am ranked 1012 so I do not believe they went by ranking. I just think that Popsci may have lost some data on the transfer. Anybody think of that before.
I am still not able to access my portfolio. I am erick99. I have tried accessing it from every possible page and from I.E. and Firefox and also trying to clear the cookies on both. I really have exhausted the possible paths to log in.
I really enjoy the game and I am pretty competitive as well. I am going to lose my place in the standings because I can't trade but others can. I am amazed that you will allow that happen to me and others.
Anyway, you asked for details concerning folks who can't login so I wanted to make sure I got in line.

I was able to sign out then back in and access it fine yesterday, now i cant get to my portfolio, i've tried to sign out and the back in, but if i try to get to the portfolio it says that i'm not signed in
I used to be able to login and see my portfolio. Now I can log into all the pages and forums I just can't get to my portfolio.
wanted to bring it up so htat you know the issues seem to be propogating.
I was finally able to get in by using this link that was given to me by another member. I am not able to navigate to this link so I have to put in the address bar. But, it works! I am in for the first time since Tuesday.

OK - we've made some tweaks to the login process, and it's very likely that most everyone who was having problems viewing their portfolio should be able to see it now. I would suggest the following process to test if it's working for you.
1. Navigate to both http://www.popsci.com and http://ppx.popsci.com and if you get the "Welcome" message in the top left portion of the page with your username, click "Sign Out" on one or both pages.
2. Navigate to http://www.popsci.com and log in.
3. After logging in, click the "PPX" link in the main black NAV bar (directly under your "Welcome, username" message.
4. You should see the same "Welcome" message on the PPX home page carry over with your username.
5. Click the "Portfolio" tab.
We apologize again for the mixups, we know it's a pain to not be able to log in. Hopefully this will fix the problem for most. If you're still having problems, post back here or email webmaster@popsci.com with as much information as you can regarding your problem and we'll take another look.
