This one's for Taylor...
Any way to tell how many "active" traders are playing? Last couple of months rankings-wise I've been at 350 of 34K registered, barely moving up or down the scale much. Been at this game for about a year now. While I suppose it's "nice" to be in the 99th%, it's starting to feel like maybe there are about 350 active traders, and I'm at the bottom.
Is there a way to cull the inactive accounts (not shut them down, but at least have a separate ranking, like I would be 350 of say 1,000 "active" traders, or those who have made a transaction in the past 6 months?). Might make the percentile rankings feel a little more meaningful. Just a thought...

If you don't move much from your 350th position it means that people around you are trading actively together with you. If they don't, you surpass them fairly quickly, or rather you and your fellow traders surpass those who don't trade - and you still move up. As to your idea about the possibility to close inactive accounts, I would say that it is worth considering but 6 months is a too short period you give to the people to return to the game if they had to drop out for any reason. Thank you for an interesting topic.

I'm working hard on helping you change rank, to 351. I'm helpful like that and only a few places behind you.
When life gives you to many Apple IPO's make Apple sauce, now where did I put that blender?
You are right, there are only 350 active players AT YOUR LEVEL.
Down here at the bottom
rankings change constantly.
I rank around 2,700 with only P$366k.
(sheesh... i haven't even dubbled my money yet)
And im in the 92%tile.!?
Starting position is about 20,000 rank, 40%tile. (250k)
That means that over 1/3 of the players loose money at this game. And i suspect have quit playing.
In the month i have been keeping stats, Total registered players has gone from 33,620 to 34,470.
850 new players this month.
Is it safe to assume the same number of drop-outs?
A lot of the props, and a lot of players, are very long-term. You could check your port once a year and still be an active 'player' here.
I would say that 18 months of inactivity is a better indicater of someone who left.
Anyway, my gut feeling is that you have lost perspective, from your position at the summet.

Quite possible. Also possible that the game has stabilized a bit since there's been a bit more rigor on how the stocks are written. When I started playing (lo those many 49 weeks ago) it was pretty easy to just pick stocks with near-term closing dates, short (because most of the stocks were unbelievably optimistic), get paid, repeat. It's still what I do, though I've found fewer obvious near-term shorts.
I think that it is probably possible fo the admins to expand the "leaders" table or rather (in order to keep it reasonable) to make another one for the next hundred and so on. It is not a good idea to have each one too long (actually, anything longer than 100 would be already too long) but people may be (and certainly are) interested to have the same look at their neighbors as those in the first 100 can have. I assume that tee system can such a table authomatically and it would not be too much trouble. If I am wrong, then - sorry for a stupid suggestion.
here's a link:
ppx.popsci.com/leader/view.php?eid=2&type=ltd&num=100&start=0&field=member_worth&dir=DESC
if you change the "100" after num, you can see the top 500, top 1000, etc....
change the dir to ASC and you can see the very bottom...
you can do a lot if you edit the link
