Copenhagen Suborbitals, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization based in Denmark, is set to launch its Sapphire rocket from a platform in the Baltic Sea at 4 a.m. ET Sunday. The mission will test the 17-foot, 500-pound rocket's active guidance system (read more here). Watch live!
You know what I love? 5 and a half hour YouTube videos with no content...
Wow..yea, that video could use some trimming now.
Skip forward to 3:03:45 ( yes, over 3 hours into the video ) to see the launch. Make sure to take a look at their wonderfully accurate countdown clock too:)
The remaining 2 hours is them trying to find the rocket, with text at the bottom telling you the main chute did not deploy, so the rocket is probably gone.
Mission appears to have been a success though. It was only a test of the guidance systems, and there was correction during flight. Apparently more testing of the parachute system is in need though.
