It's not quite a human ear, but we're really impressed with this latest 3-D printing project: making your own SLR camera. Surprisingly, you don't need much equipment for the project: you need a 3-D printer that prints in ABS plastic (like a Makerbot), a computer numerical control (CNC) cutter, a few non-printable parts and accessories, and about 15 hours of time. Sounds tricky, but in the end, you can make your own camera, complete with whatever lens mount you want and a mirror viewfinder. It's not exactly the easiest camera to use, but it's still pretty amazing that you can produce damn near a whole, working camera with a 3-D printer. Read more over at Popular Photography.
