Mercedes-Benz says it will build a hydrogen-fueled version of its European B-Class hatchback. The F-Cell will get electric power from a hydrogen cell, giving it the performance of a 2-liter economy car. An inaugural run of 200 units will arrive in the US and Europe by early 2010.

Well, how much does it cost? How far will a single fueling go, and what does a fueling cost? How much space in the car is taken up by the fuel tank?

Could we make our own hydrogen? Probably compressing it might result in blowing the place up, but maybe solar panels all over the body could feed H2 into the fuel cell under low pressure, thus conserving the stuff in the tank.
