The Switch75 is the most convincing proof that LED technology can replace the traditional lightbulb. The LED bulb provides the same warm light as a 75-watt incandescent while consuming 75 percent less energy—and it can be used with dimmers and in recessed fixtures. The secret to its efficiency is a liquid-silicone cooling system that transfers heat across the entire bulb’s surface. The Switch75 is only available to commercial users now, but the company will release a consumer bulb by the end of the year. $40–$60

I have yet to see a quality LED. They have poor light color, they seem to flicker at high speed and are very heavy not to mention expensive.

I finally got a Switch60 yesterday.

I can assure you, the light color is great and there's no perceptible flicker. It is best behind a shade (or perhaps in the frosted bulb which wasn't available where I got it from) due to the multiple individual light sources, but otherwise it beats the hell out of a 60W-equivalent CFL.

It IS heavy and expensive, but I don't see the weight being a problem in most applications and the prices should fall as LEDs catch on in the marketplace.

I've been using LED's for years and I like the way they light up my rooms. I don't get that dingy yellow look. Everything is bright, and I have never noticed any flicker. I also use a TED whole home electric meter and compact fluorescents interfere with it, while LED's don't. If you shop around they can be purchased very reasonably, use very little energy, and I have never had one burn out. I have had CFL's burn out quickly, and some even catch on fire. I never, ever use CFL's any more.
