A headlamp that turns down the lights automatically.
The Petzl NAO headlamp knows when you need bright light—and when you don’t—and automatically adjusts. A sensor above the lamp detects reflected light within the field of view and a microprocessor determines the ideal beam for the conditions. Glance down at a map, for example, and the NAO will shine low-intensity diffused light. Look up at the trail ahead, though, and it focuses to a bright spotlight. $175

I got a Petz-NAO headlamp because I do outdoor concert photography. Mainly I am so paranoid about leaving my equipment behind in the dark I needed something that wouldn't be one of those things that I would also need a light to find. Having this on my head made perfect sense. The battery life is good and the light is excellent. I did some research and called a few places before buying. Anyway, this product has well earned the time and money I paid for it.
