Most fingerprint readers require physical contact. AIRprint can scan a print at a resolution of 500 pixels per inch—enough to accurately identify an individual from six feet away. Engineers based the software on satellite image-processing programs; resolving the ridges of a fingerprint at six feet is actually quite similar to resolving a car or building from orbit. With AIRprint, people could move throughout secure facilities and sterile labs without touching a pad or surface for access. $5,000

More importantly though it dramatically changes plain sight rules. ANYONE can get your finger prints... Legally.
