Connect two computers, with no cloud in sight

When it comes to the most personal files, it can be hard to trust the cloud. The iTwin USB dongle provides secure access to a computer’s hard drive from any machine with a Web connection. Users plug half of the iTwin into a primary computer and set a password. Connecting the other half to another machine opens a direct link between the two. As files move between the pair, they are encrypted in 256-bit AES, the same standard used for military documents. If either half goes missing, both can be remotely deactivated. $100

Yeah, you can do this for FREE with Windows OS. Simple as Start > Run > \\"ComputerName"\C$ > Enter username\password...

I never have been a fan of Apple for scalping consumers by selling free technology.

Apple: Welcome to 1995!

In space, no one can hear a tree fall in the forest.

I am just trying to figure out where it says that this is made by Apple. Just curious.

Ummm, not an Apple product. Anyone can use the lower-case 'i' moniker, and they frequently do.

Also, OS X has a very similar feature as well as a number of web based services. I assume the appeal of the iTwin is the encryption and ease of use.

Not only is this not an Apple product, But it has nothing in common with the Apple and Windows Networking functions.

This product appears to allow you to connect to another computer's harddrive remotely, over the internet.

IOTW, It appears to let you access your Workstation documents from your Laptop, Tablet PC etc wherever you may be, so long as you have an internet connection. Who needs the Cloud?

Apple, I like the fruit. The computer is just a happy thing for Bill Gates so he is not a monopoly and can continue the Microsoft rule of the cosmos.

Of course, I am not opposing to something better. That would be great too!

calebscape808,
Your comment is most correct. It appears in the picture as to electronic 'Love Bugs', stuck together in copulation.

Aw.... amor!

Hello all,

Just to clarify, iTwin has no connection to Apple. It's a device that was created after the owner, Lux Anantharaman, lost his own flash drive.

It allows you to wirelessly transfer files between two computers using 256 bit encryption. The speed depends on how fast your internet is.

If you have any questions you can always email us at mktg@iTwin.com.

Have a great day!

That statement pretty much sums it up. Incidentally, people don't really need this new tech either just to remotely access their own files.

This is great. A nice quick way in which to share documents/files with anyone or just yourself. Price is a little high, but for the security it offers, it might be worth it.
Sitting in a meeting and need to quickly share with someone for a presentation, let's say a third party. Pop a file into the read/only folder and hand them the other piece, bingo.
Not all clouds are safe for confidential information. Especially if you are in a different country than the cloud!
