Freshaire Choice Paint

Paint it green

Freshaire Choice Paint main

That familiar fresh-paint smell comes courtesy of potentially cancer-causing volatile organic compounds (VOCs), solvents that end up in the air as each coat dries. Freshaire Choice is the only paint that’s VOC-free both in its base and in the tints that color it. Chemists replaced the standard liquid tints with powder-based versions that disperse just as well, without solvents. $35 per gallon; freshairechoice.com

There's a definite utility cost in eliminating the VOC's. I just used a gallon of this paint. It had lots of solids ("clumps") even when I opened the can for the first time. It didn't stand up well to painter's tape--there were lots of tears along the line when the tape was removed. This occurred even though I allowed two days for the paint to cure before applying the tape. Tape for fragile surfaces might have worked better.
