A380 Those silly billionaires. Always looking for strange new ways to spend their money. French newspaper Le Figaro reported recently that billionaire and legendary spender Roman Abamovish has purchased his very own Airbus A380.

This VIP version would be even more costly than the $300 million required to buy an A380 for commercial use, and it's hard to guess what, exactly, Mr. Abramovich would need it for, since he already has his own Boeing 767-300. In fact, a spokesperson denied that Abramovich has bought one of the monsters. But maybe he just doesn't want his 500 closest friends calling him all the time for free rides.—Gregory Mone

The optimal use for an A-380 would be in smuggling poor illegal immigrants into rich countries. Many such people will pay $5,000 to a human trafficker for passage. The ideal configuration for a private jumbo jet would be the cargo version with no seats at all. This would allow up to two thousand illegals to sit on the floor and lash themselves to the cargo tiedowns.

Illegals are usually skinny people under 150 lbs so 300,000 lbs takeoff load weight would be well within the capabilities of the aircraft. At ten million dollars per flight it would take only 30 trips to pay for itself.

ya, mike, i hear ya. or much worse...and a rich guy's airplane getting searched? still a hole in our security there
